Susan Sanderson writes of Leaving Bethany:
“Readers familiar with the stories are likely to gain new insights, while those who have not heard the stories might be encouraged to find out more. This is a book, which has the power to bless the reader. Martha’s insights and growing trust spoke to me. Acts of bravery and spiteful acts are woven together to make a gripping story.”

Solas Festival Perth, Scotland, June 19th- 2st 2026
During the festival, I will present a seminar.
Seminar Title: Hidden Voices – The Hidden Women in Church History in Their Own Words.
This seminar explores the often-overlooked voices of women in Church history, highlighting their experiences and insights through their own words. Though frequently marginalised, women have long shaped Christian thought and practice.
Hidden Voices invites participants to encounter these women as thinkers, leaders, and witnesses—from martyrs and mystics to reformers and everyday believers—examining how they understood their faith and influenced the Church.
Together, we will consider how their perspectives challenge and enrich traditional narratives, and what their stories mean for faith today.
Workshop Title: Creatively Writing Midrash Using the Bible
Have you ever read a story in the Bible and wondered about what happened next, or even before? Do you want to creatively explore the Bible and write a short story or poem? Using an ancient method of Bible meditation called Ignatian Contemplation, we will explore a story from the gospels and give pointers on how to write a short story or poem. This workshop is open to everyone, and no previous experience of writing is necessary. All are welcome.
Contact me if you would like me to talk at literary events and book signings.
I recently gave an interview to writer Susan Sanderson who also reviewed Leaving Bethany. It was fun to answer her questions and to give an insight into both the why and the how I write.
